Windsor Sinfonia

Formed 2004

Conductor: Luke Anthony

The Windsor Sinfonia was formed in July 2004 as an orchestra for talented musicians to come together over a short but intensive period to perform a programme of challenging music in beautiful surroundings.

The inaugural concert was held on 10th July 2004 at Windsor Parish Church, comprising the following programme:

Handel - Arrival of the Queen of Sheba

Bach - Concerto for Violin in E major

Baermann - Adagio for Clarinet and Strings

Mozart - Symphony No 29 in A major

The concert was held with the support of Thames Valley Hospice, and £1,000 was raised for the Hospice's charitable purposes.

Further plans are being made for a second concert at the same venue, with an application being made to the Arts Council of England for funding to support future ventures.

In the meantime, Windsor Sinfonia are looking for talented and enthusiastic musicians to help build on the orchestra's early success, with a view to establishing a more formal arrangement for the organisation in the coming months.
